ETA 2025: Establishing Research Connections
In early 2025, Dr. Angela Meccariello participated in the European Talent Academy (ETA) — a collaborative programme run by Imperial College London, the Technical University of Munich, and Politecnico di Milano, bringing together early-career researchers to work across disciplines and build international networks. The 2025 cohort kicked off in London in March, with a subsequent workshop at Politecnico di Milano, united by the theme “Water and Food for Healthy and Resilient Societies.”
That participation has now led to new funding. Starting in 2026, Dr. Meccariello has been awarded a Horizon Europe Connect Fund grant of £7,000 to establish the SPACE consortium. The funds will support a 3-day workshop at Imperial College London from 2–4 June 2026, held as part of the ETA programme.
This outcome reflects a broader commitment at Imperial College London: through its International Relations Office, the university actively invests in building and sustaining strong ties with European research institutions.
Dr. Meccariello’s experience — from participation in a structured cross-institutional training programme to securing competitive funding — is an example of how these efforts translate into tangible scientific collaboration.
